Hikers on a ridge above San Luis Obispo

Reservoir Canyon Loop

San Luis Obispo

Our most challenging regular hike takes us along a ridge overlooking San Luis Obispo. It’s both the longest regular hike and has the most elevation gain.

Trail character

It’s hot in the summer, even though most of the route stays on the north-facing slopes. The loop features rocky switchbacks and creekside woodlands, plus expansive views that are worth the effort.
