What is Meetup?
Meetup is a platform people use to organize clubs around shared interests — like arts, social mixers, businesses, and hiking. We use it as our calendar and RSVP signup system, as well as discussions and announcements.
Contrary to its name, Meetup is not a dating website. In their own words:
“Whatever your interest, from hiking and reading to networking and skill sharing, there are thousands of people who share it on Meetup. Events are happening every day—sign up to join the fun.
“People use Meetup to meet new people, learn new things, find support, get out of their comfort zones, and pursue their passions, together. Membership is free.
“Since 2002, members have used Meetup to make new friends, meet like-minded people, spend time on hobbies, and connect with locals over shared interests.”
Changing your RSVP
After you sign up for an event, it’s possible to change your mind. But in that case, changing your RSVP is extremely helpful for us to know. Accurate attendace helps us start on time and watch out for bots and false accounts. Changing your RSVP is easy.

On Meetup’s smartphone app, go to the event and look for “edit RSVP” in the lower left corner of the screen. On desktop or laptop browsers, go to the event and look for “edit RSVP” in the lower right corner.
In either case, click “not going” to take yourself off the list.
